How to run the check-in
Set a recurring time each week. Keep it short, phones down, one speaker at a time. The goal is early course correction, not perfect agreement.
Question set (7 prompts)
- What felt good between us this week?
- Where did either of us feel misunderstood?
- What moment made you feel supported?
- What moment felt tense or unresolved?
- What practical help do you need from me next week?
- What boundary or expectation needs clarification?
- What is one small change we can test this week?
Keep it useful
End every check-in with one concrete next step and one appreciation sentence. This keeps the conversation balanced between repair and connection.
If the check-in escalates
Pause, name the escalation, and choose one question to continue with. Finishing one question well is better than forcing all seven.
